Moving house FAQ

How do I move house with Powershop?

Moving house is easy with Powershop. Login to the app or on our website and under the menu option select ‘Move property’.

Add your move out date for your current address. In the ‘Move in’ section, add your new property address and the connection date you need. You’ll then receive an email from us if we require more information or to confirm your new property is set-up.

You can also jump onto our website and chat to one of our friendly customer care team via the Live Chat option if you require any further assistance.

How do I move my business with Powershop?

Please contact us through our Live Chat as we’ll need to ask you a few questions about the meter in your new premises.

Does Powershop supply electricity at my new address?

To see if Powershop will supply electricity to your new address, simply go online and fill in the sign up form. Once you fill in the property details, we can confirm if we can supply your new address or not. This will depend on the location and the meter type.

How do I enter a final meter reading?

If you have a smart meter you won’t need to enter a final meter reading as we’ll get your reading automatically.

If your meter isn’t smart log in to your account. Click on ‘Usage’, ‘Meter readings’, then ‘Enter a meter read’.

You’ll be taken to an ‘Overview’ screen that gives you access to both of your properties.

Select your old property details, then ‘enter my read’. Enter your final meter reading and the job’s done!

Alternatively, you can enter a reading on Powershop’s mobile app. Tap on ‘Read meter’ in the menu. You can enter your final meter reading up to 3 days after you move out.

If the final meter reading you provide seems unusual compared to your previous reads at this address, we may need to send a technician to confirm the reading. There’s a fee for this which will be added to your final Account Review for this property – see our fees and charges.

When will power be turned on at my new property?

When you tell us you’re moving house, we’ll ask for your move-in date. We’ll switch your power over to Powershop on that date – assuming the previous occupier or electricity supplier has left the power on at your new house.

I’ve moved in and my power is off?

First up, check that the previous occupier hasn’t turned off the power at the mains. If you don’t know how, or have any problems, chat to one of our friendly team members using the Live Chat option on our website.

If the house has been empty for a while, the power may have been disconnected. In this case, we’ll reconnect you. You may have to pay a reconnection fee – see our fees and charges.

If the property has been disconnected for longer than 6 months, you’ll need to get a certificate of verification (COV) signed by a registered electrical inspector. This confirms that everything is in good working order and safe. Give the COV to our technician when they come to reconnect you.
