Purchase eligible topical Special Powerpacks between 7-30 November 2023 to go in the draw to win a year's free power for your primary residence.
How it works
For every eligible Powerpack you purchase, from 7 November 2023 to midnight 30 November 2023 (the Promotional Period), you’ll automatically go into the draw to win a year's free power.
Only topical Special packs that are released within the promotional period get you an entry into the draw (so this excludes Chocka Block value pack, Hot Stuff value pack, Milk Moustache value pack, Old Skool value pack, Sparkle Party value pack, Hōtoke, Standard Power, Staying Power, and Future Packs.
The eligible packs are listed below, along with the dates they will appear in the Shop.

By entering the competition, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
The Prize
Subject to these terms and conditions, the winner will receive for free electricity used at their primary residence between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024 (Free Year).
We’ll apply to the winner’s Powershop account an amount of credit equal to the Electricity Charges associated with the Free Year as soon as reasonably practicable after the end of each billing period. Electricity Charges means the winner’s daily charges, usage charges, goods and services tax and the Electricity Authority levy (excluding special service charges or fees), provided that, if the winner buys any Powerpacks during the Free Year (but excluding Future Packs for any month after January 2025 (inclusive)) and that Powerpack:
- was not paid for at the time of purchase, we’ll credit to the winner’s Powershop account an amount equal to the price of the Powerpack for the relevant amount of electricity covered by the Powerpack; and
- was paid for by the winner at the time of purchase, we will refund to the winner the price of that Powerpack as soon as reasonably practicable after the end of each billing period.
The prize is valued at $2184, which is based on the projected median amount Powershop customers will spend on their main home over the 12-month period from November 2023 to October 2024. If, at the end of the Free Year the winner remains a Powershop customer and the winner’s total Electricity Charges for the Free Year are less than $2184, we will apply to the winner’s Powershop account an amount of credit equal to the difference.
Eligibility to enter and to win
The promotion runs from 9am 7 November 2023 to 11.59pm 30 November 2023 (the Promotional Period).
To enter the Kill Your Bill ‘Win a Year’s Free Power’ prize draw, you must:
- be over 18 and a New Zealand resident;
- be a natural person (ie not a business or other entity);
- be a Powershop Classic customer
- be someone who is an existing Powershop customer as of 1 November; and
- buy at least one eligible pack within the promotional period.
By entering this competition, you agree to these terms and conditions.
The Draw
The winner will be drawn on 11 December 2023 and notified within five business days, by phone or email (using their Powershop contact details).
In the event that we cannot contact the winner within five business days of the prize draw, that winner will forfeit the prize and Powershop will conduct a redraw.
The Prize is not transferable or redeemable for cash and Powershop credits are not refundable or redeemable for cash. The winner must be a Powershop customer at the time of the Prize draw. If the winner’s Powershop account is closed at any time during the Free Year, the prize will only be credited up to the last day you are a Powershop customer.
Other conditions
This promotion is for primary residences and excludes baches or holiday homes.
Powershop reserves the right to use the Prize winner’s name and region, and their entry into this competition for publicity purposes without payment or other compensation.
Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, Meridian Energy Limited (trading as Powershop), and its related companies and associated agencies, and including any employees, contractors, officers, directors and agents, are not liable to any person for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or any damages, expenses, or costs whatsoever, including without limitation any damage to property or personal injury suffered as a result of or in connection with winning the Prize.
Once the Prize has been made available to the winners, Powershop has no liability for any failure to comply with or delay in complying with its obligations in respect of the Prize due to any circumstances beyond Powershop’s reasonable control.
Powershop may change these terms and conditions in its sole discretion at any time by notice on its Facebook page. Powershop reserves the right to amend or cease running this competition at any time by notice on its Facebook page.
Powershop’s decisions in relation to this competition are final and no correspondence will be entered into except with the prize winner.

Verifying compliance with these terms
Powershop reserves the right to verify the identity of any entrant (including an entrant's identity, age, city/town of residence) and to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry or refuse to award a prize where false or misleading details have been given by an entrant, or an entrant has behaved in a fraudulent or dishonest manner, or otherwise than in accordance with these terms.
