Powershop Join Offers Terms and Conditions

Powershop join offers

This document sets out all of Meridian Energy Limited (trading as Powershop)'s (we, our, us, or Powershop) join offers for customers, and any Special Terms that apply to those join offers. Powershop reserves the right to cease offering certain join offers to new customers at any time, without notice.

The Special Terms below are to be read together with Powershop's Standard Terms and Conditions for the Supply of Electricity (Standard Terms), any Plan Terms, any Plan Eligibility Criteria, any Add On Eligibility Criteria and any other Special Terms you have agreed with Powershop. If there are any inconsistencies between the documents, the order of priority set out in clause 1.2 of the Standard Terms will apply.

These Special Terms may be changed in accordance with clause 22.6 of the Standard Terms.

All bolded terms have the meaning given to them in Powershop's Standard Terms.

When collecting, using and disclosing personal information, Powershop complies with the Privacy Act 2020. Our privacy terms are set out in our Privacy Policy.

Special Terms for Powershop join offers

$150 Credit Special Terms

$150 credit when you sign-up online:

The credit of $150 is available for new customers that join Powershop via the Powershop website using the online form, and is paid in instalments as set out below (the $150 Offer). The $150 Offer is not available through other channels, for example joining via the phone.

Your eligibility for this offer is dependent on you and your premises meeting the following criteria:

  • your premises must be classified as a residential consumer, as listed on the national electricity registry;
  • your premises must be your principal place of residence (this offer is not available for holiday homes, secondary homes or business premises);
  • you must be accepted by Powershop as a customer;
  • you must be a new customer to Powershop, meaning you must not have been a customer of Powershop in the 12 months prior to requesting this offer; and
  • neither you, nor anyone residing at your premises, has received any credit or other incentive for signing up to Powershop in the 12 months prior to requesting this offer.

Once you've been switched to Powershop, we will credit your account each monthly account review period for your first 12 monthly account review periods, as described at https://www.powershop.co.nz/terms-and-conditions/list-of-plans-and-offers/

The 12 credits, worth a total of $150, are only available to cover the cost of your electricity with Powershop and cannot be refunded or redeemed for cash. If you switch away from Powershop within 12 months of becoming a customer, then you forfeit your right to any remaining credits that would have been due under $150 Offer. Powershop may, in its sole discretion, either decline to apply, or remove your entitlement to any remaining sign up credit, where it reasonably believes that you do not meet the eligibility criteria set out above.
