Effective from 30 April 2021
These terms and conditions apply to you where you choose to use a credit card or debit card to make a one off payment to Powershop. These terms also apply where you choose to use a stored credit card (where you agreed to our Recurring Payment Terms and Conditions) to purchase a powerpack in our shop. Except to the extent of any inconsistency, our Customer Terms and Conditions apply in addition to these terms.
In these terms, “Powershop”, “we” or “us” means Meridian Energy Limited trading as Powershop.
1. Authority over the card and agreement to terms and conditions
By selecting this payment method, I confirm:
(a) I have authority over the credit card or debit card that I am using; and
(b) I authorise Powershop to charge my credit card or debit card with the amount I have specified (which may be the amount of the particular powerpack I wish to purchase); and
(c) I agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below.
2. Terms that apply
I acknowledge and agree that the following terms and conditions apply to one-off credit card or debit card payments:
Types of cards we accept
(a) You can only make card payments by using Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit and debit cards.
Storage of card details
(b) We store part of your card number to identify the card.
(c) Your full card details will be stored with Payment Express, a trusted online payment solution provider who stores these details in accordance with their policies. You can view Payment Express’s policies on their website www.paymentexpress.com.
Use of your card to make one-off payment
(d) If you wish to use your card to purchase a powerpack in the shop, the amount of the payment will be the price of the powerpack.
(e) If you wish to use your card to make a one-off payment to pay all or part of an invoice, the amount of your invoice is determined based on whether an actual or estimated meter read has been completed.
(f) Other fees may be applied to your monthly account. For more information on how your invoice is determined, please refer to our Customer Terms and Conditions.
(g) You will specify the amount of the payment you wish us to take from your card (which may be the price of the particular powerpack that you wish to purchase). The payment taken from your card will be in NZ dollars.
(h) A receipt will be emailed to you (if you have selected this option) and a record of your payment will be available in your Powershop online account after your transaction has been processed.
Transactions that decline
(i) If your payment is declined or reversed by your credit or debit card issuer (including, for example, because your card has expired or you have insufficient funds available), we will notify you and reattempt to take the payment again (this may be multiple times). We may charge you a dishonour fee as determined in our sole discretion.
Cancellation and refunds
(j) You will not be able to cancel a one-off payment after you have authorised it.
(k) If you are owed a refund pursuant to these terms and conditions (for example if a payment was made in error), we will follow the process set out in our Customer Terms and Conditions and we will refund the card that was used to make the payment.
