If you’re with Powershop, the graphs on our mobile app or the heat map on your desktop account clearly show what times you used more or less power than usual. However, sometimes it can be a bit of a head-scratcher to work out what actually caused a change in your power usage.

Luckily we’ve got a little trick hidden up our sleeve to make the detective work a bit easier. It’s called the Activity Tracker.

The Activity Tracker is a tool on our mobile app that lets you add a note to your Daily Usage graph for a chosen time period.

You can use the Activity Tracker to add notes to past events while you remember them. Like that day you did loads of hot washes. Or you can set it to keep track of a future time period, say for next weekend when your in-laws are coming to stay.

How to use it

Open the app and look for the stopwatch icon on the top-left of the Daily usage graph (or the Hourly usage graph if you're on our Get Shifty ‘Time of Use’ pricing). Tap it to open the Tracker.

Choose the past or future time period you want to track, and select one of our existing activities e.g. 'Laundry' or 'Visitors'. Or you can add your own. Simply choose an icon, then pop in a name for the activity.  Something descriptive like 'Working from home', or 'Heaters on all day'.

Once the meter data for the period is available, you’ll be able to tap the icon to reveal how much power was used during that time and what it cost.

You can find out more about the Activity Tracker on our Help site. Or open the app now and get tracking!
